Cuddybridge Apple juice is a very simple product…..a squashed apple! Nothing at all is added.
Well, not quite so simple as the type, variety and age of the apple has a great affect upon the final taste.
The only additional product added to the juice is ascorbic acid acting as an antioxidant. The amount of ascorbic acid is tiny, approx 5 gms per 20 litres of juice.
All our year round juice is varietal, mainly, Braeburn,,Pink Lady and Granny Smith. From time to time we also have Cox’s Orange Pippin, Gala and Royal Gala.
It is estimated that just around the Border town of Innerleithen(where we are based) and Peebles, that up to 250 tons are not used. Edinburgh, which is only 30 miles away, has an estimated 3500-4000 tons of apples going a-begging!
Our apple juice is not organic, not because of anything against organic production, but purely because we cannot certify to that fact.
What we can say, is that the juice is 100% pure, natural, squashed apple. No water, sugars or any additives have been added.
Because we hand press all the juice, we are able to be very selective about the apples that pass through our press.
The old adage about ‘one rotten apple in the barrel’ is so correct, except that we don’t even accept any form of bruised apple or partial bruising.
PRICING
Our 2012 retail price for a 330ml bottle is £2.50.
For the smaller ‘wine cooler’ shape the retail cost is £3.00 per bottle. The reason that it is more costly than its bigger sister is two fold. It is more expensive to buy and secondly it is really only used for the sales of Apple and Scottish Seabuckthorn.
Our large bottles retail at £6.00 per bottle for 750ml.
The increase in VAT and the fact that we are not VAT registered, means that we cannot claim back any VAT.
We have had to add a £5.00 per order charge for all orders more than 20 miles from Kailzie. Remember that it is for the entire order-not per box !!
Our minimum order is 24 bottles.
I had lunch at the Sallyport Hotel Berwick on Tweed. To accompany my meal I had a bottle of you apple juice. This is what happened I took my first sip and wow and a big wow at that, it was the most refreshing tasty, clean, sweet drink I ever had, in fact as coffeeholic I was seriously thinking of forgoing my caffine fix for more apple juice. The last word you can feel very proud on a product that is something very special.
Many thanks for making my enjoyable meal even better
Thanks very much for the comments-they make all the hard work worthwhile!!
We will be supplying more juice to The Sallyport Hotel in the middle of the month, so hopefully you can have another try to see if you can become a juiceaholic!
Have you tried our Apple and Scottish Sea Buckthorn juice? it’s truly amazing!
